The flood situation in central Assam's Sonitpur district on Tuesday turned grave following incessant rain in the northern districts and the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Brahmaputra and its tributaries, including Jiabhoroli, were rising alarmingly and inundated vast areas of the district, official sources said in Guwahati.
The National Highway-52, between Mangaldoi in Darrang district and Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district, was flooded by rain water disrupting traffic since Monday night in several places.
