Jharkhand governor denies report of resignation

Amidst conflicting reports, Jharkhand Governor Prabhat Kumar on Monday denied that he had resigned from his post.

His Principal Secretary, D S Mukhopadhyay, said reports about the governor's resignation were "wrong".

Earlier, reports from New Delhi said the governor had resigned in the wake of allegations levelled by Flex Industry Chairman and Managing Director Ashok Chaturvedi before the Central Bureau of Investigation that he had paid for the two parties thrown by Kumar at his residence in New Delhi.

Chaturvedi is one of the main accused in the excise scam and he had levelled this allegation against the Jharkhand governor during his interrogation by the CBI in connection with the scam.

Mukhopadhyay, however, refused to make further comments on the issue saying this was all he had to say.
