A Pakistani Mirage fighter jet crashed into the Indian Ocean on Thursday night, about 20 miles from the port city of Karachi and an official inquiry has been ordered into the incident, official sources said.
The aircraft, which went missing after taking off from the Karachi airbase, crashed into Indian Ocean, an official press release said on Friday.
The fate of the pilot is still unknown.
The aircraft was on a "routine" mission, the release added.
