Rashtriya Janata Dal president Laloo Prasad Yadav was on Wednesday released from high-security Beur jail in Patna after 59 days of incarceration in connection with fodder scam cases.
Yadav was granted bail in one of the cases relating to fodder scam by the Supreme Court on Monday.
The case relates to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 380 million from Chaibasa treasury (now in Jharkhand).
Earlier, the Patna high court had on January seven granted a provisional bail for three months to Yadav in another case involving fraudulent withdrawals of Rs 4.7 million from the Bhagalpur treasury during his chief ministership.
Yadav, however, could not be released from jail as the Jharkhand high court had denied him bail in the case relating to Chaibasa treasury.
This had led Yadav to move the Supreme Court, which allowed him bail on Monday.
