Continue crackdown on
terrorists, Bush tells Pak

President George W Bush on Monday asked Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf to continue the crackdown on extremist elements in his country and warned that the Indo-Pak border tension was "far from defused."

Bush said Musharraf's efforts to rein in terrorists would provide "pressure relief" at a time when India and Pakistan are at the brink of war.

"I don't believe the situation is defused yet, but I do believe there is a way to do so," Bush said.

"I think it's very important for President Musharraf to make a clear statement to the world that he intends to crackdown on terror," Bush told reporters in the Oval office.

"And I believe if he does that and continues to do what he's doing it will provide relief, pressure relief on a situation that's still serious," he added.
