Court issues notice to Vikas Yadav's father

The Delhi high court on Thursday issued notices to the Uttar Pradesh police, Delhi Police and the Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament D P Yadav on a petition filed by Neelam Katara, mother of Nitish Katara, who was allegedly abducted and killed by Yadav's son Vikas and his cousin Vishal.

A division bench, comprising Justices B A Khan and V S Aggarwal directed the senior superintendent of police, Ghaziabad, to file a status report on the investigations in the case by Friday.

The court also ordered the Delhi Police to provide security to the petitioner and her immediate family.

The petitioner, through her counsel Kamini Jaiswal, had also sought court directions that DNA testing of the charred body believed to be that of victim Nitish Katara, be done expeditiously.

She also sought protection to be provided to all the other witnesses in the case and that Bharati Yadav, daughter of D P Yadav, be located and her statement recorded.

Bharati Yadav is said to be absconding. It is alleged that the Yadavs had conspired to murder Nitish Katara as they were unhappy about the Nitish's friendship with Bharati Yadav.
