Acknowledging the role of the police in putting an end to militancy in Punjab, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Thursday said all possible assistance would be given to the officials who helped the state in its hour of need.
Amarinder said the previous government did not lend "due support" to the officials who did a "great service".
"We should be grateful to those police officials who waged a fearless war without caring about their lives and helped wipe out terrorism in Punjab," he said in Amritsar.
The chief minister said all possible assistance would be given to officials embroiled in litigation or in jail for allegedly killing innocents during the height of militancy in the state.
"The cases of all such personnel will be reviewed turn by turn," Amarinder said.
