MoD dismisses report of
Laden hunt in J&K

The Ministry of Defence on Saturday described as "rubbish" a British newspaper report that American and British troops were in Jammu and Kashmir hunting for Al Qaeda militants, including Osama bin Laden.

"There is no question of allowing American or British or any foreign troops into J&K. The report is totally incorrect and baseless," a defence ministry spokesman said in New Delhi.

He said he could not comment on whether American and British forces could be operating in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The report said that US Delta Force soldiers and British Special Air Service troops have formed a 40-man unit in a bid to hunt down bin Laden who is being protected by Harkat-ul-Mujahideen militants.
