The Kolkata police are looking for a number of associates of terrorist kingpin Aftab Ansari after he revealed their names and nature of involvement, The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Detective Department, Soumen Mitra said.
The city police already wanted most of these persons, he said.
Mitra told a press conference that Ansari admitted his involvement with at least eight terrorist and fundamentalist organisations all over the world including the Inter-Services Intelligence, Lashkar-e-Tayiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
However, central agencies were still interrogating Ansari for confirmation of his involvement with the Al Qaeda and terrorist outfits based in Lebanon and Alzeria.
During interrogation, Ansari admitted his direct involvement in the case of threat for ransom to a city-based businessman Ganesh Mahalingam, Mitra said.
Ansari also admitted that he came to the city in the middle of 2000 and lived for some time in a rented house at Beniapukur area as Farhan Malik.
He admitted that the American Center in Kolkata was their first target. They finalised the blueprint for attacking American Center about four months back after they hired a house in Hazaribag in Jharkhand.
Ansari was involved in at least ten cases all over India including three in West Bengal, he said.
