Suspected CPI(ML) activists gunned down a ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader in Bihar over a land dispute, official sources said on Wednesday.
According to police sources in Patna, Ramlakhan Yadav was shot dead in his field in Sakharpur village in Jehanabad district by over half a dozen persons.
Though the state intelligence department had earlier warned the district administration and the police of a threat to Yadav's life, no security was provided to him.
Police sources also admitted that a few weeks back, Yadav himself had expressed apprehension about a threat to his life from ultra-left outfits like the MCC and CPI(ML).
The CPI(ML) is spearheading a violent land reforms movement against landlords and is specially well-entrenched in Jehanabad district in central Bihar.
