Ranvir Sena chief remanded to judicial custody

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

A Patna court on Friday night remanded Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Singh, and five others arrested along with him, to judicial custody till September 13. He will be lodged in the Beur central jail in Patna.

The Patna police produced Singh before Chief Judicial Magistrate Santosh Kumar Srivastav at his residence on Friday night.

Singh had been detained at the Sachivalaya police station after his arrest on Thursday in Patna.

Singh and the others were booked under sections 216, 116, 353 of the IPC and Section 17 of Criminal Law Amendment Act.

During his detention in the police station, Singh was interrogated by several security officials, including the police chiefs of Gaya and Bhojpur districts.

According to police officials, Singh has confessed to his involvement in only two out of the 29 massacres attributed to the Ranvir Sena since 1995.

However, he did not provide any information regarding the Sena's activities, they said.
