Minor kills 3-year-old child

Sandesh Prabhudesai in Panaji

Fourteen-year-old Vinayak (name changed) first killed three-year-old Nelroy Gomes by slitting his throat with a piece of broken glass, then dumped the body in a pond

The reason was as childish as their age was. Nelroy called him pig and Vinayak wanted to take revenge.

Talaulim village in Navelim, a suburb of Margao in south Goa, went into a panic when Nelroy went missing.

And it was a shock when his bloodstained body was found in a nearby pond. It was Vinayak himself who brought the news that a body was seen floating in the pond.

The police were immediately brought into the scene and soon enough the needle of suspicion started pointing toward Vinayak, whose family had settled down in the village from the Belgaum district of Karnataka.

Vinayak initially kept on telling different stories, but finally confessed that he wanted to settle scores with Nelroy.

The post-mortem report revealed that Nelroy died due to shock and haemorrhage. The wound was one millimetre deep and five centimetres long.

Vinayak has been now sent to the juvenile home, while parents of both the accused and the victim have still not recovered from the shock.
