Jethmalani, Shah hold second round talks

The Ram Jethmalani-led Kashmir Committee on Thursday held a second round of talks with Democratic Freedom Party leader Shabir Shah.

However, none of the sides briefed the media about the deliberations.

It was not immediately clear whether the committee was arranging a meeting of the separatist leader with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, as announced earlier.

After the meeting, Jethmalani hosted a dinner, which was attended, among others, by former prime minister V P Singh and Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh.

Before starting the talks with Shah, Jethmalani met Vajpayee after which he told reporters that the "prime minister has assured us that [the] government will continue the talks with all elements... after [the assembly] polls".
