Search still on for Delhi corporator's body

A joint operation by the Delhi and Ghaziabad police to trace the body of murdered Delhi Congress corporator Atma Ram Gupta continued on Thursday without any success.

Dismissing reports attributed to him that the body was recovered early on Thursday morning from a spot near the boundary of Chajjapura and Sapnawat villages, Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police Chandra Prakash clarified that the search is still on.

Police suspect the body could have been washed away in the Upper Ganga Canal flowing nearby, Prakash said.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) M D Karandhar also clarified that no body has been recovered so far.

They said a Delhi police team was still scouring areas surrounding Chajjapura and Dahaipur villages with assistance from the local police.
