Bihar govt mulling over ordinance against striking transporters

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

The Bihar government is planning to issue an ordinance to seize the buses and trucks of the striking transporters, even as the strike to protest the hike in road tax entered the 29th day on Thursday.

But the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav said the state government is open to talks with the transporters.

The government is under pressure from all political parties, including its ally, the Congress party, to end the strike.
