S K Sinha gets another term as Assam governor

Lieutenant General (retd) S K Sinha has been appointed for a second term as governor of Assam.

Gen Sinha's present term expires on August 31.

The general had first been appointed governor of the northeastern state during the tenure of the Inder Kumar Gujral-led United Front government in New Delhi.

The state was then ruled by the Asom Gana Parishad, which was a constituent of the United Front.

Gen Sinha had resigned from the army back in 1984 after he was superseded for the chief's post by General A S Vaidya.
