Patna police arrests 35 students for 'disrupting' law and order

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

The Patna Police arrested 35 students of a commerce college on Wednesday on charges of violating law and order, after they took out a rally and allegedly disrupted traffic.

"The students also become violent and attacked the policemen, after which we arrested them," Patna Superintendent of Police O N Bhaskar said.

He said several police officers were injured in the clash with the students. The police had to lob teargas shells and resort to lathicharge in order to disperse the agitating students, he said.

The students were agitated over the 'abrupt' decision of the Magadh University to postpone their examinations, slated to begin Tuesday.
