Keep away from J&K polls: Advani to Pakistan

Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani on Saturday asked Pakistan to keep away from the poll process in Jammu and Kashmir.

"We expect that our neighbour will not try to interfere in the poll process and create an atmosphere wherein the people face problems," he said in New Delhi on his return from a visit to the United Kingdom.

India had conveyed to Britain its viewpoint on various issues, especially cross-border terrorism, he said.

Advani expressed the hope that the close relationship that India had developed over the years with Britain would be consolidated.

The deputy prime minister said he had told British leaders that steps were being taken to ensure free and fair elections in Jammu and Kashmir and that a large number of people would come and to cast their vote.
