Tamil superstar Rajnikanth on Saturday threatened to take legal action against Pattali Makkal Katchi founder Dr S Ramadoss for allegedly obstructing the release of his latest film Baba in some parts of Tamil Nadu.
In a statement, that was under consideration for the past 24 hours, Rajnikanth said, "Ramadoss should take the responsibility for what all has happened since, and what all is happening now."
He also justified his fans' ire saying that they are upset over the 'machinations of the PMK cadres'.
Tensions between Rajnikanth and Ramadoss flared up after the latter had spoken derisively of the actor at a public meeting.
Speaking at a function of Vanniyar community at Poompuhar near Mayiladuthurai in Nagapattinam district on Sunday, Ramdoss had asked the people not to 'idolise' Rajnikanth saying the actor had sold his latest film for several million of rupees, but not spent 'even a single paise for the state'.
Following Ramadoss' speech, there were protests against the release of the film in the Vanniyar belt.
The superstar's fans are equally upset over the 'theft' of a film-box of Baba at Jayankondam, and the attacks on cinemas screening the movie in the PMK-strongholds in northern and northwestern Tamil Nadu.
The arrest of two PMK cadres for the theft of the film-box, which has since been recovered, has not made things any better.
