Suburban, long distance trains running on schedule

Priya Ganapati in Mumbai

All suburban and long distance trains on the Central and Western Railway continue to be on schedule. A minor disruption at railway bridge number 144, situated between Palghar and Boisar railway stations, on Monday night had caused a few long distance trains to be delayed.

Following the disruption at the bridge situated on Western Railway's Mumbai division, speed restrictions had been imposed in that section.

"We have posted a few officers at the site to monitor the situation carefully. In case of any flooding there we have the systems in place to rectify the situation immediately," said Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Shailendra Kumar.

The weather bureau in Mumbai has characterized the rainfall in the last 24 hours as below average. Railway officials too said the showers have been only as expected and therefore had little impact on their services.
