BJP issues show cause notice to Pandya for Modi's criticism

The schism in the Gujarat unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party became apparent when the party issued a show cause notice to senior leader and Revenue Minister Haren Pandya for his critical remarks about the Narendra Modi government.

A BJP press release in Gandhinagar said party state chief Rajendrasinh Rana issued the notice three days back and wanted a reply within a week from Pandya about his remarks made in an interview to a leading magazine.

When contacted, Pandya said he had received the notice, but declined to comment on its content.

Pandya has been at loggerheads with Modi ever since the Gujarat chief minister wanted Pandya to vacate the Ellisbridge assembly seat in his favour.

Recently, Pandya stayed away from a meeting of the BJP working group.
