Nine children drown,
three missing in Bihar

At least nine children in the age group of 7 to 15 drowned in the swollen Kosi river at Gaiyari village in Bihar's Araria district on Thursday, official sources said.

Araria district magistrate Mani Kant Azad said the mishap occurred when 17 children from Gaiyari and adjoining Kisauna village were trying to cross the river. Three children are still missing.

Azad said nine bodies have been recovered so far. The villagers managed to rescue five children.
