Normal power supply restored in Maharashtra

After over 24-hours of erratic power supply following collapse of the western grid on Tuesday night, normal power supply was restored in Maharashtra on Wednesday night, electricity board sources said in Mumbai.

"The power supply was restored at about 2200 IST throughout the state," the sources said.

By Wednesday evening, Maharashtra was receiving about 1,700 MW from the stations in the central sector against the schedule of 1,600 MW.

Earlier, state Energy Minister Padamsinh Patil told the assembly that the government would lodge a complaint against Madhya Pradesh for 'gross violation of grid discipline, which resulted in an unprecedented power failure in five states'.
