Censure motion: TDP politburo to decide on Tuesday morning

Syed Amin Jafri in Hyderabad

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has convened a meeting of the party politburo on Tuesday morning to finalise the party's stand on the opposition-sponsored censure motion on the Gujarat issue in the Lok Sabha.

All the politburo members, barring those attending the Parliament session, have been summoned to the party headquarters at 0945 hours.

Naidu is expected to convey the politburo's decision to TDP parliamentary party leader K Yerran Naidu in New Delhi after the meeting.

Throughout Monday, Chandrababu closely monitored the developments in Delhi and held informal consultations with senior cabinet colleagues and party functionaries.

In the morning, he hosted Haryana chief minister and Indian National Lok Dal president Om Prakash Chautala, who was in the city on an official visit, over breakfast.

The two leaders held closed-door discussions for about 15 minutes.

Chandrababu declined to comment on Paswan's resignation.
