Don't teach us secularism: PM tells world

Stung by the international criticism of the riots in Gujarat, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Thursday said India did not need lessons in secularism.

"India is being advised on pluralism and secularism. We need not learn about secularism from anybody," he said, expressing strong indignation over the concern voiced by Britain, Canada and some other European Union countries.

Vajpayee was speaking at a function in New Delhi on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti.
