BJP completes internal deliberations on govt formation in UP

Hopes of an early formation of a government in Uttar Pradesh were revived on Thursday with Union Home Minister L K Advani asserting that all obstacles for an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party had been removed.

After a high-level meeting of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, including party president Jana Krishnamurthy and former UP chief minister Rajnath Singh, Advani said that all discussions within the party had been completed and the last phase of discussions with the BSP on government formation would be held later in the day.

Reiterating BSP leader Kanshi Ram's statement, he said there would not be any post of deputy chief minister in the UP cabinet.

Former BJP president Khushabhau Thakre, state BJP chief Kalraj Mishra and senior leader Lalji Tandon were also present at the meeting.
