NCP to vote against government in
Lok Sabha

The Nationalist Congress Party said on Thursday that it would vote against the government on the censure motion in the Lok Sabha on the Gujarat issue.

NCP leader Sharad Pawar said that the party had decided to participate in the debate under Rule 184, which entails voting.

He added that all the eight NCP MPs would vote against the government.

The party has been demanding the dismissal of the Gujarat government and implementation of President's Rule there.

"Since they have utterly failed in carrying out their constitutional obligations, the Centre should invoke Article 355 or Article 356 and dismiss the Gujarat government and implement President's Rule in the state," he said.

Pawar also charged Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee with not taking any strong steps to check the violence in Gujarat.
