Gujarat cops find petrol bombs near
relief camp

The Gujarat police on Wednesday found explosives and sharp weapons, concealed in cavities in residential premises, near a relief camp in Ahmedabad.

The police and Rapid Action Force stumbled on 70 petrol bombs and a number of swords and other sharp weapons in Babubhai Chawl, close to the Dariyakhan Ghummat camp.

Nine persons were arrested in this connection from Sajjan Society flats, police sources said.

Additional Commissioner of Police V K Mall led the operation.

He said the explosives and arms were kept "covered inside big holes in the residential premises".

"To a large extent, it was a chance breakthrough as seeing the holes no one could think that they could have been explosives and weapons," he said.

Meanwhile, indefinite curfew was clamped in Bhavnagar city following group clashes, police said.

At least four persons were injured in the clashes, which took place on Wednesday evening, the police said.

The injured were admitted to a local hospital, they added.
