Laloo expels ex-finance minister Tekriwal

Rashtriya Janata Dal president Laloo Prasad Yadav on Wednesday expelled former Bihar finance minister S P Tekriwal in the wake of the party nominee's defeat in the legislative council poll.

Yadav, who had formed a team to probe into the alleged sabotage by at least three party legislators, axed Tekriwal from the party for six years.

He also accused the former minister of being in league with the Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

The team, constituted on Wednesday, was given ten days' time to submit its report on the issue of wrong marking on the ballots by three legislators that led to the defeat of Niranjan Kumar Pappu.

"I will not tolerate indiscipline in the party," Yadav said, and warned the other two unidentified legislators of similar action after the inquiry committee submits its report.

Tekriwal, when contacted, said: "I am a relieved man... I have come out of the house of vices."

"I always wanted to get rid of Laloo and his family, which has reduced RJD to a fiefdom."
