At least seven people were killed, two of them in police firing and one burnt alive, as violence rocked Ahmedabad for the third day in running, taking the toll to 36 since Sunday.

Police fired several rounds to contain violence in Khanpur area of curfew-bound Shahpur, killing two persons, including a woman. Over 30 huts were set ablaze by mobs in Khanpur, where a youth was electrocuted while fighting flames in his house.

Two persons were stabbed to death at Madhupura and Dani Limda areas and a youth was beaten to death near Gandhi bridge end in Shapur police station area.

In minority-dominated Juhapura, one person was burnt alive. The victim was riding a scooter when a mob pounced on him, police said.

At least seven people were injured in stabbing incidents in Danil Limda and Vejalpur.

Ten shops were set ablaze by a mob near a shrine adjacent to the police commissioner's office.

Stones were hurled at a funeral procession, carrying bodies of two persons killed in police firing on Monday in Madhupura area.
