NDA will reject censure motion: Govt

The government on Tuesday exuded confidence that the National Democratic Alliance would reject the opposition-sponsored censure motion on the Gujarat situation to be taken up in the Lok Sabha next week.

"The NDA will stand united and this motion will be rejected," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pramod Mahajan said.

Mahajan was likely to write to some key allies, including K Yerran Naidu (TDP) and Mamata Banerjee (Trinamool Congress), to seek their support, sources said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition was also hoping to get the support of the 12-member Bahujan Samaj Party, its newfound ally in Uttar Pradesh.
