The Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday stayed appointments to over 500 posts in government colleges and issued a show-cause notice to the state government asking why selections recommended by the Punjab Public Service Commission in the current year should not be set aside in view of the alleged irregularities during tenure of PPSC Chairman Ravinder Pal Singh Sidhu.
The notice issued to the state government is returnable by July 1, 2002.
The stay order followed a petition filed by the Akhil Bharatiya Anti-corruption Cell challenging the selections.
