Pakistan slams Indo-US radar deal

Pakistan on Monday said that the sale of American fire-finding radars to India would increase New Delhi's "belligerence" and prompt it to adopt more "intimidating postures".

"Such a move would only encourage India to more belligerence. As it is they have deployed their troops along the border. We think that anything more that adds to India's arsenal is only used in prompting it to intimidating postures," foreign office spokesman Aziz Ahmed Khan said in Islamabad.

India and the US last week signed a $146 million deal for the sale of the radars.

Replying to a question, he said the border situation between Pakistan and India remained the same.

To another question, he said Islamabad was ready for a dialogue with India at any level.
