Show restraint or face retaliation,
India warns Pakistan

India on Monday warned that it would be forced to retaliate if Pakistan did not stop its attempts to cause damage to the border fence in Jammu.

"If Pakistan does not show restraint, India will have no option but to retaliate not only to its attempts to cause damage to the border fence, but also to the unprovoked firing from across the border," said a statement issued by the Indian Army.

The statement added that tension had been building up on the Jammu border for the past few days due to Pakistani firing on Indian forward posts. "The BSF, in most cases, had showed restraint and not retaliated," the statement said.

Pakistan had made eight attempts since last year to interfere with border fence construction activity and there was no reaction from the BSF, the statement said.
