Jaish planning another attack on Parliament

Security agencies in the capital went into a tizzy after an intelligence intercept on the border suggested that Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were planning to carry out a suicide attack on Parliament, informed sources said on Tuesday.

The intercept, which was received in the wee hours of Tuesday, suggested that some terrorists belonging to the Jaish had managed to sneak into the capital to carry out the attack, the sources said.

Immediately, an urgent note was sent to the Delhi police to beef up security around the Parliament complex and other major VVIP areas and buildings of national importance, the sources said.

The intercepted message suggested that Jaish terrorists would be attacking the Parliament complex with an explosive-laden truck or car.

In view of this, the Delhi police has been asked to keep close watch on all roads leading to the complex and not to allow any vehicle to be parked on the road, with a special eye on heavy vehicles and bulletproof cars.

The sources said security agencies had been asked to keep a close watch on cars meant for VVIPs as well because the militants could camouflage their vehicle as such. The same modus operandi was used during the December 13 attack on Parliament.

Meanwhile, some searches were carried out in the walled city area of Delhi to nab suspects. Movements on all incoming roads and at airports and railway stations are being closely monitored.
