Laloo seeks to file cases
against Vajpayee, Advani

Shahid K Abbas in New Delhi

The Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav made his presence felt in Parliament on Monday when he sought an appointment with President K R Narayanan to seek his nod to file criminal cases against Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Union Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani.

Talking to rediff.com, RJD parliamentary party leader and spokesman Raghuvansh Prasad Singh said the RJD chief wants to meet the President to seek his clearance to lodge a criminal case against the prime minister and the home minister under section 120B of the CrPC for making inflammatory statements.

He was referring to the speeches delivered by the two at the national executive of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Goa. Laloo also believes that Vajpayee and Advani deliberately allowed the communal carnage in Gujarat to continue with the sole aim of reaping a political windfall out of it.
