BJP authorises Modi to decide on polls

Bharatiya Janata Party coordination committee and state unit office bearers on Sunday night authorised Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and the state Cabinet to take a decision for holding assembly election.

Emerging out of the two-hour long meeting, Gujarat BJP president Rajendra Singh Rana said that members held thorough discussion on all aspects of holding polls in the wake of a directive from the BJP national executive.

Rana said that the members favoured an 'early election', but left the matter to be decided by the chief minister and the state government.
