Nationwide bank strike on Tuesday

Bank employees across the country will go on a day's strike on Tuesday protesting against, what they call, anti-labour policies of the Union government.

United Forum of Bank Unions, the apex union of bank employees, said that over 1 million employees of 27 public sector banks and some foreign banks will participate in the strike.

State Bank of India employees, who have a separate union, will also join the strike.

The strike will result in a loss of over Rs 1 billion to the national economy," UFBU (Delhi) convenor V K Gupta said.
