Modi should resign on moral grounds: BJD

Giridhar Gopal in Bhubaneswar

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which is a constituent of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, on Sunday said Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi should resign on moral grounds.

"We are not making any demand. However, we are of the opinion that Modi should resign from the post of chief minister taking moral responsibility for the happenings in his state," BJD secretary general Dr Damodar Rout told rediff.com.

"We are unhappy over what happened in Gujarat and in Ayodhya. As long as the NDA government adheres to the national agenda for governance, we will continue to be a part of the alliance," Rout said.
