Former Bihar chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav resigned from the state assembly on Wednesday.
He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in March for the first time in his three-decade long political career.
He will be taking oath in the Rajya Sabha after April 14.
Talking to newspersons, Yadav was cheerful but said that he would miss the state assembly and 'the legislators'.
He promised to fight for the cause of Bihar in the Rajya Sabha and expose the Union government's negligence of the state.
Having become the chief minister in 1989, Yadav was forced to step down following allegations of corruption in the multi-million fodder scam.
In 1998, he won the Lok Sabha election from Madhepura. However, he lost the seat the following year to Union Labour Minister Sharad Yadav.
Earlier in his career, he had represented Chhapra in the Lok Sabha.
