Thackeray condemns attack on Thane hospital

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Sunday condemned his party activists' attack on the Singhania hospital following the death of prominent party leader Anand Dighe in Thane last week and warned them that such acts would not be tolerated in future.

Thackeray said in a statement published in Sena mouthpiece Saamna that henceforth there should not be any attack on hospitals, doctors and their residences.

The Sena chief said he was not supportive of the actions of the sainiks who should have kept in mind that there were several patients in the hospital at that time.

However, he said nobody should be given a chance to capitalise on such incidents, take a high morale ground and target the Shiv Sena.

"Following Indira Gandhi's assassination, around 2,500 Sikhs were killed. The Congress has no moral ground to criticise Shiv Sena over the Thane incident," he said.
