Bihar train mishap: Work on to clear tracks

Work was on to remove the mangled bogies of Mokama-Howrah passener train, which was hit by a pilot engine from the rear in which 13 passengers were killed and ten others injured at Dumri Halt station of Eastern Railway on Tuesday evening, an Eastern Railway spokesman said on Wednesday.

Medical vans and cranes were engaged from Danapur and Jhajha to clear the down track, he said. The upline was, however, being used to ensure traffic between Howrah and Patna.

Among the dead, three were identified as railway gangmen Mahinder Singh, Bhasho Singh and Uchit Shao.

The condition of three of the injured was critical, while seven others suffered minor injuries. They were being treated at Mokama and Barahiya hospitals.
