Fire in Shastri Bhawan leads
to panic among employees

A fire broke out on Wednesday evening in the multi-storeyed Shastri Bhawan, which houses several important ministries, in Delhi.

The fire emanated from a hand-drying machine in the toilet on the sixth floor at around 1700 hours (IST), fire department sources said.

Hearing about the fire, the employees rushed out in panic.

At least six fire tenders were immediately pressed into service to control fire, the sources said.

No damage was caused to life or property and the minor fire was doused within minutes, they said.

The building houses offices of several ministers, including information and broadcasting, welfare, human resources development, social justice, law and coal.
