India, Russia to set up joint
biotechnology centre in India

New Delhi and Moscow on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding on setting up a joint bio-technology centre in India.

The agreement was signed by Foreign Secretary Chokila Iyer and academician Gury Marchuk on the sidelines of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's Russia visit.

Iyer also signed an agreement for exchange of experts and joint research in key international issues like combating terrorism and globalisation between the Indian Council of World Affairs and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.

Indian ambassador in Moscow K Raghunath also signed a memorandum of understanding for an annual grant to the Russian Institute of Philosophy for projects on Indian philosophy.
