Imam Bukhari's effigy burnt in Orissa

Imran Khan in Bhubaneswar

Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Parishad, a right wing Hindu organisation, burnt an effigy of Syed Ahmed Bukhari, imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid, in Bajichhak district of Orissa to protest against his support to Osama bin Laden.

The members of the organisation took out a rally and also shouted slogans against Bukhari's recent 'anti-democratic' statements.

The imam had reportedly asked all the Muslims to wage a jihad against the US attacks on Afghanistan.

The rally was taken out from Bajichhak to IG market.

Police security was tight for the rally, which passed off peacefully.
