Wendy Chamberlain is
US envoy to Pakistan

United States President George W Bush has nominated diplomat Wendy J Chamberlain to be the new ambassador to Pakistan.

A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Chamberlain has served as principal deputy assistant secretary of state in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs since 1999, a White House press release stated.

Chamberlain was US ambassador to Laos in 1996.

She was deputy chief of mission in Kuala Lumpur from 1993 to 1996 and director of public affairs for the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs from 1991 to 1993.

Chamberlain was also the director of counter-terrorism affairs in the National Security Council from 1989 to 1991.
