Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Yadav will surrender on May 15 morning, before the Central Bureau of Investigation special court of A B Shekhar in Ranchi, if the Patna high court does not grant him any relief on May 14.
This was disclosed by party national spokesman Shivanand Tiwary in Patna on Friday.
The Patna high court earlier deferred hearing on a petition of Laloo, challenging the CBI special court's decision to issue a non-bailable warrant to him, till May 14.
However, Tiwary refused to disclose the surrender plan.
Earlier, he had suggested that many party workers would accompany Laloo till Ranchi jail gate.
He said that Laloo had repeated that he was no fugitive and would surrender when required.
However, the party still reposed full faith in the Patna high court and hoped that it would give an order in his favour, thus making the non-bailable warrant issued by the CBI special court infructuous, he added.
After the May 14 high court ruling, there would not be any need to wait for the CBI special court to give its ruling. This court had also stayed its ruling till May 14.
Tiwary iterated that the RJD would continue its political battle against the CBI. He lambasted National Democratic Alliance partners for conniving against Laloo in sheer frustration, as exit polls had predicted their complete rout.
He said the NDA government was the most corrupt since Independence and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee may have to go to jail on corruption charges someday.
