Notwitstanding views expressed by Chief Election Commissioner M S Gill and others, Doordarshan will conduct an exit poll on the conclusion of the ensuing assembly elections in five states and Union territories on May 10.
Doordarshan has made elaborate arrangements to cover the polls being held for the state assemblies of Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, including live linkages with different state capitals. The counting will be held on May 13.
The exit poll programme on May 10 will be telecast on the National Network on DD-1 and DD News Channel from 1730 hrs to 1900 hrs. The psephologist is G V L Narisimha Rao and co-anchor is Manoj Raghuvanshi.
Doordarshan will also telecasting four half-hour programmes from Delhi on the National Network on DD-1 with a hotswitch to the respective states (between 2100 hrs and 2130 hrs). The anchors will be Mrinal Pande and Suneet Tandon.
The telecasts will be: May 4 - Assam; May 5 - Kerala; May 6 - Tamil Nadu; and May 7 - West Bengal.
The analysis programme telecast schedule is: 0830 hrs - 1400 hrs National Network on DD-1 and DDNews 1600 hrs - 1700 hrs DD News Channel 1930 hrs - 2000 hrs National Network on DD-1 and DD News Channel 2100 hrs - 2200 hrs National Network on DD-1 and DD News Channel
Special five-minute bulletins will be telecast every hour from 0900 hrs to 1600 hrs.
The anchors for the programme are Mrinal Pande, Rahul Dev, Suneet Tandon and Nalin Kohli, and the psephologists are Dr Bhaskar Rao of the Centre for Media Studies and Naveen Surapaneni. The programme will have hotswitch to all the state capitals and important party headquarters there. The counting trends/results to be transmitted will be collated via NICNET.
