Keith Vaz hospitalised

A correspondent in London

British Minister for Europe Keith Vaz has been hospitalised, after passing out in his office on Thursday.

According to British news reports, an ambulance was called. He was advised to go in for a check-up after passing out at 4.15 pm local time and then was taken to St Thomas' Hospital, in central London.

A television channel said that he had complained of chest pains a fortnight back and had to seek treatment.

Vaz was in his office for a television interview when he collapsed.

He has been under pressure since a report by the Commons Standards and Privileges Committee into alleged breaches of Commons rules.

He was also alleged to have helped the Hinduja brothers get passports. The brothers have been linked to the Bofors scam in India.
