President may be discharged on Saturday

President K R Narayanan is recovering well after a surgical procedure on Thursday to remove gall bladder stones and is likely to be discharged on Saturday, doctors attending on him at the Ganga Ram Hospital said in New Delhi on Friday.

''The President was cheerful on Friday morning and was walking around. He also had a good breakfast,'' doctors attending on Narayanan said.

The President underwent micro-laproscopy for removal of gall bladder stones. Department of minimal invasive surgery head Pradeep Chaubey headed the team of doctors that operated on the President.

While as per medical advice, the President is not receiving visitors, a number of people had called up to inquire about his condition and wish him a speedy recovery.

Vice-President Krishan Kant called up to inquire about his health and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee sent him a bouquet on Thursday, with a message of speedy recovery. A number of other ministers also called up, Rashtrapati Bhavan sources said.
